CRYSIS

RATING:93/100

LE VERDICT FINAL:

Crysis is an uplift to the gaming world. This fictional game visualizes the future through a series of AI technologies. With excellent gameplay and combating ,the crysis excels in every aspect a game must fulfil.I recommend, personally, this game to all gamers who really want fun-filled extreme game entertainment.

THE STORY:

Set in August 2020, the Crysis plot follows United states Army Delta force operative First Lieutenant Jake Dunn — codenamed "Nomad" Crysis begins, an American team of archaeologists is taken captive by the North Korean army they make an important discovery in the South China sea. The United States responds by deploying a team of Delta force soldiers — supported by the USS constitution Carrier strike group — who engage the North Koreans' large military installations.

The game begins with the five-man squad (Prophet, the squad leader; Nomad; Psycho; Jester; and Aztec) being air-dropped over the island. An unidentified attacker tears Nomad's parachute causing him to free-fall into the water and miss the landing zone. Working his way up the beach, he encounters Jester, and together they search for Aztec, whose parachute has got caught in the trees. Before they can reach him, however, he is killed (along with a squad of KPA soldiers), again by an unknown attacker. To avoid the Koreans getting their hands on the nanosuit technology, Prophet vaporizes Aztec and his suit via remote control. Jester is left to clean up the scene of any remaining evidence of US forces, and Nomad is sent to destroy a KPA radar jammer.

Nomad then moves up the beach, through a KPA checkpoint and a command post, where he learns that KPA operations on the island are being conducted by General Hui-Jong Kyong. Nomad then rendezvouses with Prophet, Jester and Psycho at the battered remains of Dr. Rosenthal's research ship, which has mysteriously become covered in ice. Just then, an alien bursts through the hull of the ship, taking Jester and killing him. Nomad, Prophet and Psycho are left to conduct the rest of the operation on their own. Nomad is sent up the coast, to recover an archaeologist from a KPA installation. The archaeologist turns out to be a CIA spy, sent to investigate the KPA's excavation efforts on the island.

Afterward, Prophet and Nomad continue on, only for Prophet to be abducted by the alien that had killed Jester and Aztec. Nomad, directed by Major Strickland, dismantles a number of KPA outposts and attempts to recover Dr. Rosenthal, who is examining one of the alien machines he has exhumed from the rock, and arguing over the monitor with General Kyong. The machine activates itself, freezing Dr. Rosenthal and the inside of the complex. Nomad then makes his way out of the area along the river, towards the ocean. He is directed to move to an area where he will be picked up by VTOL and transported to the fight. The area turns out to be guarded by KPA soldiers in primitive Nanosuits, who have all of Nomad's abilities, but whose suits are regarded by him as "cheap knockoffs".

After evac, Nomad is transported to the bay, where he is ordered to disable a number of KPA anti-air units, so that heavy VTOLs can airlift tanks to the area. After a drawn out armored assault, the mountain at the center of the island begins to crumble, revealing a two-kilometer high alien structure beneath the surface, out of which alien machines emerge and begin attacking both US and KPA forces. Nomad is sent into the excavation site to stop General Kyong. Inside the mine, he is ambushed by two KPA nanosuit soldiers and held while Kyong activates the structure. The resulting energy pulse causes Kyong's nanosuit to malfunction, and the two soldiers' suits vaporize, killing them. Nomad kills Kyong, and he and Helena Rosenthal attempt to escape via the lift. The lift fails, and Helena is airlifted out by VTOL. Nomad is left behind, and is forced to enter the alien structure.

Exploring the zero gravity environment, he gathers valuable information about the alien invaders, who try to halt his progress through their sanctuary. Upon exiting the structure, Nomad discovers that it has affected the surrounding area around the island by creating a frigid energy sphere that lowers the ambient air temperature to 144K flash freezes every living being within it. Making his way through the frozen environment, Nomad encounters Prophet, who wields a weapon he constructed from his own gun and parts from one of the alien war machines. His suit has been damaged, and Nomad must escort him from heat source to heat source in order for him to survive. They exit the sphere by crossing a partially destroyed bridge, as an alien warship flies overhead.

After exiting the sphere, Nomad and Prophet link up with some of the survivers of the attacks. The men, commanded by Lieutenant Keagan are soon ambushed and are forced to leave their temporary base behind. The two are later forced to rescue a trapped Helena Rosenthal in a downed VTOL, after, intense battles with the new alien attackers outside the sphere, Nomad and Prophet are given time to escape the sphere's expansion using a VTOL by Major Strickland, who deliberately chooses to sacrifice himself. Flying back toward the USS Constitution, and escorting a flight of VTOLs as they evacuate stragglers. Once aboard the carrier, Prophet repeatedly tells Admiral Morrison, the commander of the USS Constitution Carrier Strike Group, that they must go back to the island. Morrison does not listen, and after having a few repairs and upgrades made to his suit, Prophet returns to the island in a stolen VTOL, with the weapon he constructed. During this time, Nomad also receives some upgrades to his suit, allowing Helena Rosenthal to broadcast a signal through his suit to disrupt alien defensive systems. A nuclear strike is then ordered on the island, despite Prophet. The strike only fuels the alien machinery, expanding the sphere and prompting a massive attack on the fleet by alien forces. Prophet is presumed dead. The attack destabilizes the ship's reactor, and Nomad is sent belowdecks to fix the problem, lowering a few stuck control rods and shutting it down. Nomad then returns to the flight deck after acquiring a prototype nuclear TAC cannon from the weapons lab, just as the carrier is attacked by an alien Hunter exosuit. Helena then uses the upgrades to Nomad's suit to disrupt the Hunter's shielding, allowing him to destroy it. The brief victory is overshadowed by the appearance of the alien warship Nomad and Prophet had witnessed inside the energy sphere. Helena again uses Nomad's suit to deactivate the warship's shielding, and Nomad is able to destroy it using the TAC cannon obtained from the weapons lab. The warship's destruction sinks the USS Constitution in a massive whirlpool. Helena informs Nomad that a U.S.navy fleet is en route from Japan, and will arrive within the hour. They then get a transmission from Prophet, who is still alive, and inside the Ice Sphere on the island. The final scene sees the camera pulling back from Nomad, and the VTOL with him, Helena and Psycho on board flying back toward the sphere.

GAMEPLAY:

As with Crytek's previous game Far Cry, Crysis is an open-ended game with many ways to meet objectives. An addition to the previous Far Cry formula is that most weapons may be modified with devices such as supressors, telescopic sights, and targetting lasers.

The protagonist, callsign Nomad, is also capable of selecting various modes in his military prototype "Nano muscle suit". The suit is capable of four modes: armor (absorbing and healing damage), strength(allowing for stronger melee attacks, higher jumping, and lifting and throwing heavy objects, including enemies),speed, and cloak (providing minimization of visibility and generated noise). to the ability of constantly regenerating health, the game is completely devoid of first aid kits. All of these actions, however, use rechargeable energy reserves that power the suit; health is recharged most quickly while in armor mode. The suit can be quickly switched between modes using a rapid mouse gesture system, which adds a strong tactical element to combat.

The suit's integral mask has its own HUD, displaying typical data like a tactical map and current energy levels. The view is electronic in nature, shown in-game through things such as a booting readout and visual distortion during abnormal operation. Onboard utilities include a two-way radio, pda and audio visual logging capability, with features like image zoom and night vision provided by optional equipment (given by default in single-player).

The artificial intelligence (AI) in Crysis also aims to be realistic and believable. Enemy soldiers constantly employ tactical maneuvers, work as squads, hide and ambush amongst the scenery, and adapt to changing environments and conditions. AI soldiers will also respond to sound and subtle movements triggered by the player's movement. not engaged in combat, the AI soldiers will also exhibit typical and lifelike behavior, such as smoking, yawning, talking, urinating, patrolling, saluting superior officers, etc. Sometimes these actions depend on whether or not the player was detected earlier. If Nomad has not been sighted in some missions, he can find some enemies sleeping upon arriving to his destination. In contrast if he has been spotted they will all be alert.

MASS EFFECT

RATING: 88/100

LE VERDICT FINAL:

Combating through the worlds, the mass effect has proved to be one of the most lovable action-role playing games. It has been developed by bioware and the pc version has been published by electronic arts. The game is a legendary master piece. With greater combating styles and interactive environment, the game is a real treat for the gamers.

THE STORY:
War of the worlds
Being the first sequel of the trilogy the game basically revolves around a human soldier Commander shepard exploring the universe on his space ship called the SS NORMANDY. The Normandy is being sent to the human colony world of Eden Prime to recover an unearthed Prothean beacon. To assist in recovering the beacon, the Citadel Council, the main government for most of the galaxy, have sent one of their top agents, a turian "Spectre," named Nihlus. Nihlus is also there to evaluate Shepard to see if he is fit to become the first human Spectre.

Nihlus, Shepard, and a small team discover that the Eden Prime colony is under attack by alien synthetic life-forms known as the geth. Nihlus encounters and is killed by a rogue turian Spectre named Saren Arterius, who is working with the geth. After the battle ends, Shepard discovers the beacon, but it suddenly activates and he receives a vision of biological creatures being slaughtered by machines.

The Normandy and its crew are summoned by Ambassador Udina, Earth's representative to the galaxy, to the Citadel to report. Shepard is unable to convince the Citadel Council of Saren's treason until he discovers a recording of a conversation between Saren and one of his allies, an asari Matriarch named Benezia, discussing their victory on Eden Prime. The recording also mentions the return of a force known as the "Reapers," as well as an artifact called the "Conduit." Confronted with this evidence, the Council revokes Saren's status as a Spectre, and makes Shepard the first human Spectre so that he can legally hunt down Saren.

Command of the Normandy is taken from Captain Anderson, and given to Shepard. Shepard uses the ship to follow up on several leads provided by Anderson and Udina. On Therum in the Artemis Tau Cluster, Shepard finds and rescues Dr. Liara T'soni, Matriarch Benezia's daughter, who is an expert on the Protheans. On Feros, Shepard fights off an army of geth and destroys an ancient life form known as the Thorian, a sentient plant-like creature that has the power to control who ever inhales it's spores. Shepard also learns of Saren's flagship, Sovereign, which seems to be capable of unique mind-control capabilities. On Noveria, Shepard tracks down Matriarch Benezia while fighting off both geth and alien insects known as rachni, whos queen talks to Shepard through a dead, reanimated Asari scientist. Benezia is eventually defeated, and she reveals that her mind is being controlled by Saren, through his ship, Sovereign. She soon reverts to Saren's control, and Shepard is forced to kill her.

After completing two of the previous three planets, Shepard and the council learns a salarian spy unit has uncovered a base operated by Saren on the planet Virmire. Once he arrives Shepard learns the base is being used to clone an army of krogan warriors, and with salarians' assistance he assaults the base to detonate a nuclear device inside its walls. Inside the base Shepard discovers another Prothean beacon, which transfers its knowledge to him. Shepard is then confronted by Sovereign itself, which reveals that it is what the Protheans and geth consider to be a "Reaper." Sovereign explains that the Reapers permit organic life to develop, allowing species to discover the mass relays (which influence future technology) before exterminating them when they reach a certain level of advancement. After planting the nuclear bomb and attempting to escape the facility, the team is attacked by Saren. He explains that he has aligned himself with the Reapers to save organic life by making it "useful" to the Reapers. Shepard refuses to accept Saren's plan, and escapes Virmire before the nuclear warhead is detonated.

With the information Shepard's party has gained, Liara is able to pinpoint the Conduit's location on a Prothean world known as Ilos. Returning to the Citadel with this information, Shepard finds that the Council does not accept the Reapers as a genuine threat. Ambassador Udina locks Shepard out of the Normandy, but Captain Anderson steps in and allows Shepard to steal the ship back.

On the surface of Ilos, Shepard follows Saren into an ancient bunker deep within the planet, and encounters a Prothean computer system named Vigil, which explains the Reapers' methodology. The Citadel Station is actually a mass relay facility built by the Reapers intended to summon them from the dark space outside the galaxy. Before the Reapers invaded, the researchers at Ilos were on the verge of understanding the mass relay system, and were able to finish their studies upon reawakening from cold sleep. The Prothean researchers created the Conduit, a miniaturized mass relay that allowed them to travel to the heart of the Citadel, and there sabotaged the primary Citadel mass relay. When Sovereign - a Reaper left behind to reactivate the relay when the next cleansing was due - awoke from hibernation, it found it could not remotely reactivate the relay. Saren, under its thrall, planned to use the Conduit to storm the Citadel with a geth army and restore the Citadel relay from within.

Shepard pursues Saren through the Conduit. At the same time, Sovereign and a massive geth fleet assault the Citadel itself, breaking through the Council fleets defending the station. Sovereign lands on the central tower of the Citadel and begins activating the relay, while Saren uses the Citadel's central control systems to close the station around the Reaper to protect it. Shepard fights up the tower to the control center and confronts Saren, either killing him personally or convincing him that he has fallen under Sovereign's indoctrination, prompting Saren to kill himself. The Human Systems Alliance fleet arrives to reinforce the beleaguered Council fleets, while Shepard reopens the Citadel and exposes Sovereign. At this point, Shepard has a choice between ordering the Alliance fleet to save the Council, who are under attack by the geth, or going directly to Sovereign. Saren's corpse suddenly reanimates under Sovereign's direct control, through the use of cybernetic implants, and begins attacking Shepard while the Alliance attacks Sovereign itself. Sovereign is eventually destroyed, and the reanimated Saren corpse disintegrates.

The precise ending of the game depends on several factors, including whether or not Shepard opts to save the Council during the final battle, and whether Shepard has a higher Paragon or Renegade meter. If Shepard saves the Council, they are inspired by Shepard's actions and bravery, and grant humanity a seat on the Council. If the Council is destroyed, the Systems Alliance assumes control, and humanity steps forward to lead the galaxy into the future. Shepard is also allowed to choose between Ambassador Udina or Captain Anderson as the new galactic leader or Council member in the aftermath, but regardless of the choice, Shepard realizes that the Reapers are still a threat, and that they must be stopped.

THE GAMEPLAY:

Although most of the game's screen shots and concept art show the same "default" male Commander Shepard, it is possible for the player to fully customize his or her character's appearance, gender, abilities, and even military background.

The game includes six character classes. Each class contains several talents; as each talent is leveled, the character either gains stats (extra health, stamina, etc), unlocks new abilities (for example leveling the Shotgun talent unlocks the Carnage ability, which allows the character to fire a concentrated explosive blast from the Shotgun), or unlocks other talents. Each class also possesses a unique talent with the same name as its respective class; the characters may also have talents tied to their background. who have reached level 20 will unlock a "Rogue VI" side-mission on Luna (Earth's Moon) in the Sol system, in which upon completion, allows the player to choose one new specialist class. This unlocks one new "bar" of talents which can be earned. The specialist classes the character is offered depend on the base class.

When characters are first created, six classes are available: Soldier, Engineer, Adept, Infiltrator, Sentinel, and Vanguard. Soldiers are the most skilled with weaponry, Engineers make use of the omni-tool and tech-abilities and the Adept are the best at using the biotics. The other three classes are combinations of the first three. Infiltrators are a combination of Soldiers and Engineers, the Sentinel is a combination between the Engineer and the Adept, and the Vanguard are a combination of the Soldier and the Adept.

Players also have some control over their character's back story. They are able to choose either to have been a "spacer" (born and bred in space), a "colonist" (born on one of Earth's extrasolar colonies), or an "Earthborn" street thug. They also choose whether they have been the sole survivor of a terrible battle, a war hero, or a ruthless soldier. These backgrounds have only a small effect in the game, although many characters reference the player's chosen background when talking to Commander Shepard, and these can also affect whether some side-quests become available or not. Except in a few situations, the player's background does not directly affect the player's dialogue choices.
